The Hand Picked Blog Tour

When Riley Blake asks if you want to be a part of one of their blog tours, for me the answer is always yes! Especially when it’s a bright and beautiful bundle like the gorgeous Hand Picked Collection by Tammie Green. The colors are so warm and fun, they remind me of summer.

I drew up a simple churn dash mini quilt that would show off each one of the prints in this collection. Such a fun and easy block to make measuring six inches each. It was a bit simple and smaller than I had wanted, so at the last minute I pulled a couple of my favorite prints and decided to add a churn dash boarder which I think framed it nicely and gave just the right pop of color I had been wanting.

I used the main red print that has beautiful big bouquets on it for the binding. I think I’m a bit picky when it comes to red fabrics but this color is right on, nice and bright. To add to the low volume of the mini quilt, I went with some of my favorite Riley Blake Swiss Dot fabrics in red and aqua. These tiny dots are really a great addition to any project.

In keeping with the vintage feel of the churn dash block, I added simple machine cross hatch quilting in Aurifil 50 weight #2311 which is just a bit off white and keeps the focus on the fabrics. This mini measures 26×26 inches. I am still debating weather to keep it right here in the corner of my dining room or to gift it to a friend, gifting handmade things is just the best, but it looks pretty at home right here too.
